| | We have recently changed DB servers, and now when we "enable workflow execution on sharepoint generic lists" the site no longer allows editing of any documents. The process seems to complete correctly, but once this is turned on, I receive the error: "The list item could not be added because the length of the fields was too long. Please shorten the new entries or remove some fields from this list." The site seems to extend properly. The listener is installed and configured correctly. |

| | Hi, This might happen if there is any permission issue Or problem with the installation of SWA Listener setup. The possible options to overcome this would be: Option1:: Add a user in the DB Server with the name NT AUTHORITY\NETWORK SERVICE and give permissions to SWA and SharePoint configuration, content databases and then try the scenario.
Option2:: Try to uninstall and reinstall the SWA Listener for SQL Server 2000/2005 and test the scenario. Attaching the Listener setup's for SQL Server 2000 as well as for SQL Server 2005. Based on your SQL Server version, install the respective listener setup. - ListenerSetups.zip file contains Skelta Accelerator - SharePoint Listener For SQL 2005.msi, Skelta Accelerator - SharePoint Listener For SQL 2000.msi files.
- Skelta_Accelerator.doc file contains installation instructions of SWA Listener.

| | Thank you for your quick response. It seems we have done your suggestions and still no joy. We found that after the web site is extended, everything works. Once we "enable the workflows to generic sharepoint lists" the web site returnes the error, "The list item could not be added because the length of the fields was too long. | | Alright! Try providing the anonymous access to the SWA web service ( for the "SWA web service" virtual directory under SWACentralAdmin in IIS), then add the list items and trigger the workflow. Thanks, |
