i want to know that what is work ownership and when i use it?

also in work item list exist one dropdown list that it has option with supject Take ownership that when i select it and click on button my page doesn't run completly and it does not fix  what does  caus it?

please answer to 3 my question above?

By clicking the take ownership option, the Actor takes the ownership of the work item. It is like denoting that the Actor has seen the item and taken the ownership, but will acto on the item at a later point in time. The time out warning for ownership and timeout for ownership will be triggered based on how many Actors took ownership with in the set time frame.
